Commercial buildings at Des Voeux Road Central 德輔道中商業大廈

Beyond the Bank of East Asia are the Lane Crawford Building of 1926 and the new Gloucester Building of 1932, which replaced the Hong Kong Hotel after its disastrous fire of 1926. On the right is the General Post Office, the Alexandra Building and the King Edward Hotel. This broad thoroughfare had previously been the Praya until the reclamation of the 1890s.
